THE NAPPY DI$NEY INTERVIEW

Are you from Philly originally? What does the local art community mean to you?

I’m originally from Delaware, born & raised. I moved out of my parents house, packed my car, drove cross country to LA and now I’m here in Philly!

The local art community to me means friends, fun, fashion, music, creativity & creative freedom, inclusiveness, ect . I feel Philly has an art renaissance movement that we might not really see right now, but it’s totally legendary and will definitely be remembered for years to come.

How did you get involved with Roach World?

We had planned on doing something together right after the Nappy Disney EP came out. With the right timing, we were able to collaborate and make some awesome stuff.

What are your hopes or plans in terms of modeling?

I haven’t had any hopes to model - I wanna do more modeling, but I only wanna wear things that make me feel good.

How would you describe your sound to someone who's never listened to your music before?

ART POP! I’ve heard other people say electronic, dance, whisper, trippy, trap music. The listener own interpretation is probably the best one.

Tell us about Nappy Di$ney: The Last Mixtape (EP). What does this EP mean to you?

I have been running and planning this project for so long the name and concept has taken so many turns. The mixtape is now called “PLAY: TheLastMixtape” by Nappy Disney.

This project screams growth and creativity!

The statement is Nappy Disney is an artist - they have something to say whether good, bad or indifferent, it is being said.

This one, like all the projects, once their done and out feels like creative artistic glory. It’s now been a year of making it and getting it distributed. I’m so excited for everyone who the project is for to hear it! Ether way thank you for listening šŸ¤—

What was your creative process like when creating this EP?

All my projects start with nothing - it’s all urge. I visualize, I start, I release.

Inspiration can come from anything for me. A dream, a story someone tells me, or a story I actually live through. It’s really about being open to the experience I plan to write about.

Do you have any plans to drop a full-length album in the future?

Yes, and once I teach myself how to make an album, I will only be making albums after.

Do you feel Philadelphia's art community is overall accepting of you and your sound?

Yes, I love Philly šŸ˜˜

You've been performing in a ton of shows over the last few months in various venues. Do you plan to keep this momentum going?

I love performing and will definitely be planning bigger and smaller shows. Something intimate, maybe live streamed, but that’s in the future.

You recently performed at the Jungle Ball in April. What was this experience like for you?

Me, Zay Ali, and Branjiii put the jungle ball together! I was really able to focus on my performance and DJ set thanks to everyone that helped put it together. It wasn’t just me throwing the whole show without a team, which is how it normally happens. That performance in particular I was really able to get into it and let my hair down šŸ˜šŸ’šŸ½‍♂️

Do you have any upcoming music release dates or shows to promote?

PLAY: TheLastMixtape FRIDAY JUNE 21ST

ROACH WORLD X NAPPY D POP UP JULY 13th

I’ll also be hosting more parties In NYC & PHILLY all summer!!
