What’s your story?

I'm Lord Trip of HBC and i make fucking fire ass shit. I smoke and be on xbox live mostly.

What does the local music community mean to you?

The local community are partially the people who will propel you from being local so I think they are very important to a point, but also its your biggest haters and competition. I personally dont focus on anything outside of my direct collective because everyone in HBC pushes me to be better either through competition or teaching me new ways to approach records, how to handle social media, rollouts etc.

Who are some of your biggest inspirations, both locally and mainstream?

Freshsz from the city. formerly of Novo and R1 most recently. If you are reading this and are from philly listen to him he was on it before X, 69, zillakami, all that shit. Everyone in HBC and lil pill cause im dead its lit is a classic song. Mainstream are Cudi Ye DMX Thug Gnarls Barkley Daft Punk System of a down.

What’s one thing about you that you think is misunderstood? What do people not know about you, or one thing you want people to know?

The biggest thing people get wrong about me is they think just approaching me is ok. Im not good at talking to people if its not about something of value to one or both parties and people i hardly know or maybe we follow each other on socials just walk up to me and start telling me about themselves. Im big on organic interactions i don't like working with people i dont really fw in person.

Tell us about your most recently dropped project, or an upcoming project.

Trippy Boomin is my upcoming tape and my first LP its like 12 songs all produced by this producer in europe who also worked with KILLWHITEY for a while. I just dropped the first single on july 4th - the cover was done by Justin Richburg. Once it becomes my most streamed song, im gonna release the 2nd single for it “Bet” ft Shaq G.

Are there any artists you enjoy collaborating with the most? Are there any artists, local or mainstream, that you would love to collab with?

Me and Tawobi have a whole tape in the tuck we have to get mixed. Journell P just slid through and we cooked up something crazy - I'm dying to make more with him. Shaq G is a fucking monster. Moses, SHEED, Bombs215, and Mainstream wise, most people I really am dying to work with are dead or past their prime.

Who else in our community do you think is Next Up?

Happysadguy, Journell Pierre, Shaq G, ShawnWeTrust, Tsan3000, Internal Rhyme, Linduh, Dave Amigo, R1 as a whole, Ovrthink, Midvessel, Ill fated Natives, streetsvue, The Nelson Boys, MotherMary Rose, Saturn Alexander, Astro 8000 as a producer and a DJ, TayBanga, DJDJ, El Train, Hashland. I'm sure I'm forgetting some names, but its mad talent in and around Philly.

What’s next for you?

Dropping Trippy Boomin, working on videos, and finding a way into the bigger venues into the city.
