THE 4VR INTERVIEW

What's your story?

Meeting at the beginning of 2018 through mutual friends, in our first hour in the same space, we made our most streamed single ‘Back Up’ with ease. From there decided we needed to keep making music, and a couple months later became 4VR, due to the fact that we can hop on any style song, change our aesthetic per project, and still keep our own sound, thus, making timeless music “4VR”.

What does the local music community mean to you?

The local music community means alot because most of the community are our friends, and without it, we don’t thrive or survive. It’s home.

Who are some of your biggest inspirations, both locally and mainstream?

Ren: Locally, Rego, because I admire how she found herself, what she stands for, how she made a name for herself in Philly so quickly, and always puts out professional content. Mainstream, Blackbear & Don Toliver because Blackbear and Don Toliver.
Cesar: Locally, SAD Marquise, because he is one of the best writers I know. Mainstream, Ty Dolla Sign & Travis Scott, because of they way Ty can seamlessly mix RnB and Hip-Hop music, and the way Travis puts you inside of his world through his music.

What’s one thing about 4vr that you think is misunderstood? What do people not know about you, or one thing you want people to know?

The number one thing about 4VR that is misunderstood, is that we are going to drop music at the rate we are, regardless, no matter how against the norm. People keep telling us to slow down and really promote one release, but we genuinely care about making music, and the art of releasing conceptual projects, instead of dropping singles with no purpose.

Tell us about your most recently dropped project, or an upcoming project.

Well, go stream Ghostown... but we are working on a collab EP as we speak with Regothereshego called, The Mirage. Which is going to be a trip. Our biggest project coming this year though is with 7Minutes2LA, called 7Minsutes24VR which features a surprise collective of Philly talent, finally showcasing what 4VR is about.

Are there any artists you enjoy collaborating with the most? Are there any artists, local or mainstream, that you would love to collab with?

Ren: I enjoy working with Rego the most because that’s the homie. Also we get each other. I would LOVE to work with Suzanne Sheer <3
Cesar: I enjoy working with SAD Marquise because of our musical chemistry and how quick we make music, but I would love to work with ShawnWeTrust.
Both: Linduhyo!

What has been your favorite project you’ve released so far, or the one you’re most proud of?

Ren: Roses Die: The Mixtape, because I love darker music and I really got to express some bottled feelings on this project. We also spent a lot of time on this project and the concept.
Cesar: Roses Die: The Mixtape is technically my favorite all around conceptually, but I am the most proud of Ghostown for its quality in the amount of time we made it.

Who else in our community do you think is Next Up?

Without a doubt, Rego, Rubber, Young Kat, Nic Hanson, Hashland, Miles Chancellor, Psychodelicate, NXG, Ronnie Riggles, Fruut, SAD Marquise, AP The Plan, Journell Pierre, 7Minutes2LA, CJ Mills, Jizza Raw. Of course there are more, because Philly has a massive amount of talent, but here are our favorite.

What’s next for you?

Singles, collab EP’s, albums, Short film, documentary, and all in 2020.
